• 5 strips of crumbled bacon
  • 1-2 large heads of broccoli
  • 1/2 of a red onion (optional)
  • 1/2 cup of sunflower seeds
  • 1 cup of shredded cheddar cheese
  • For the dressing:
    • 3/4 cup of mayo
    • 1/4 cup of sour cream or plain greek yogurt (trust me… they’re identical!)
    • 1 1/2 tablespoons of white wine vinegar
    • 3 tablespoons of sugar
    • dash of salt
    • dash of pepper

  1. Start by making the dressing. Combine mayo, sour cream (or yogurt), vinegar, sugar, salt, and pepper in a medium bowl.
  2. Whisk dressing until all lumps disappear. Set bowl aside.
  3. Cook bacon in pan, oven, or microwave until desired crispness. Allow to cool, then crumble into small pieces with hands.
  4. While bacon is cooling, clean and cut broccoli into bite size pieces and place into a large bowl.
  5. Dice and add red onion to bowl if desired.
  6. Add cooled bacon, sunflower seeds, and cheese to bowl.
  7. Mix together with hands or a spoon.
  8. Pour dressing over salad ingredients and mix until coated.
  9. Serve immediately or chill for later use.
